We believe Ralph Waldo Emerson said it best:
“To live well, to laugh often, to love much. To gain the respect of intelligent people, to win the love of little children. To fill one’s niche and accomplish one’s task. To leave the world better than one finds it; whether by an improved flower, a perfect poem or another life ennobled. To never lack appreciation of earth’s beauty or fail to express it. To always look for the best in others, to give the best one has. To make one’s life an inspiration and one’s memory a benediction.”
However, our traditional education system typically emphasizes academic achievement to the exclusion of valuable life knowledge and behaviors such as self-direction and personal responsibility, emotional intelligence and empathy, interpersonal and communication skills and an attitude of resiliency, willingness and flexibility.
The challenge is, how do we teach these essential principles in our schools beyond the academic focus? And how can we, as individual educators and parents, live and model these ideals ourselves? That is where True Success Education seeks to fill the gaps.
